My name is Thomas Cannon and I am the proud owner of Blue Ridge Blades. About ten years ago I returned from my third deployment to Iraq. I wanted to try something different, which was making a knife. I found it kept my focus, and helped ease my mind about things that happened. I stayed in the Army for many more years, and I am now retired and making knives full time.

Knifemaking, for me, is a passion and I enjoy every aspect of creating that special blade. Over the years, my tools and equipment have gotten more advanced and more useful but I still pride myself on completing each knife in-house. I don’t use grinding jigs or anything mechanical to complete a knife and I perform my own heat treating to ensure consistent results from my blade performance.  Every blade is ground to finish by hand and eye. No two knives will be the same. “Old school” still works for me.

From heat treating the blade to stabilizing the wooden scales to the leather sheaths.
