We are all about building a community around the bladesmith. Our two values of “Trust and Quality” will never change. We are here for you. Whatever you need, whenever you need it, we are there. This isn’t just a job for us, it’s a passion and lifestyle. Our promise to you, is to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience to the bladesmith and the customer every, single, day. Bladesmiths are only able to open their stores once they pass a quality review. This way, the market is not flooded with terrible craftsmanship. Therefore, you can be assured you are buying a quality item which will last for generations. We review quality, so you know you’re getting it!

Everything we do in life has a purpose, whether it be waking up early to take that morning run or heading to the studio to create a masterpiece. BladesWork Unlimited is no different. We have two missions.

  1. To provide bladesmiths with the necessary tools and outreach they need in order to place a custom knife in customers hands from around the world.
  2. To provide customers with a service they can trust, embracing the community, and make a one-of-a kind, enjoyable experience in order to place a custom knife in your hands.

Just like any good company, Bladeswork was founded in November, 2018 around 10:30pm while in bed by having a simple idea of “create a Facebook page to promote bladesmiths from around the world.” After seeing how the community reacted, we felt there was a need in the community of bladesmiths for a service. We didn’t quite know how or what we were going to do at the time, but the company of “Shadow Blades Forge” was founded in March of 2019.

Now, we are two Marine Officers and a lady (I’ll get to you Abilene and won’t call you just a lady). Shadow Blades started with one person. Christian. Talking and meeting bladesmiths from around the world! Showcasing their work and promoting the “little guy” for free. We started to grow, the company grew from 75 followers to over 6,000 in a matter of weeks.

But we aren’t a forge. When Bo came along, one of the first decisions we made was a name change. It was critical. So, in February 2020, BladesWork Unlimited was founded and here we are today.

All from just an idea late at night

Christian Helms – Founder of BladesWork Unlimited. An Infantry Officer. Christian has a passion for knives. He has been a bladesmith since 2011 from the moment he hit his first hot steel on a dumbbell (didn’t have an anvil) and made his first knife out of Home Depot steel (not good!). Christian brings the passion to the business, understanding the community, and knowing what a good knife is.

Robert “Bo” Plante – Co-founder of BladesWork Unlimited. An AAV Officer. Bo joined the business in November of 2019 after a long car ride with Christian (we work together in the Marine Corps) and seeing what a business like this could bring. Bo brings the business to life, with his knowledge in the business world and drive for ideas, Bo was a no-brainer to bring an idea to life.

Abilene Helms – Co-founder of BladesWork Unlimited. Christian’s beautiful wife. She was there the moment it all happened. She brings balance to both Bo and Christian. Being the drive behind keeping good idea fairies far away, Abilene brings the realism to the business and enables a passion and dream for the company to become a reality.
